Company History: 36 Years Serving Northern Viginia
Kramer and Sons Plumbing Services, Inc. was founded in April of 1989 by Marty and Pam Kramer in the dining room of their Alexandria duplex, with Pam answering the phones and Marty doing the plumbing.
By September, Marty and Pam had grown the business and Marty was in need of an apprentice. That’s where Julio Romero came in. Julio started as a helper in September of 1989 and continues with Kramer and Sons to this day as Kramer and Sons senior technician.
Seth Kramer started working during school breaks at the age of 13 as a plumber’s helper. After graduating High School he started his formal apprenticeship and received his Master Plumber and Gas Fitter License after completing the 5 year program.
Seth moved to management and subsequently purchased the company from Marty and Pam in 2012. Since assuming management of the company, Seth has personally trained and mentored five employees who have since moved on to form their own successful plumbing companies.
Today, Kramer and Sons employs three full-time plumbing service technicians and one plumbing apprentice. Holly Hoffstot is the friendly voice who answers the phone during working hours and keeps the office running smoothly as Kramer’s Office Administrator.
Marty retired from Kramer and Sons after Seth took the reins, but Pam remains in a part time administrative position.
In our 36 years of business we have provided plumbing and gas services to more than 15,000 Northern Virginia households. Today we respond to approximately 2,000 service calls each year.
Seth has two teenage sons is hopeful they will follow in his footsteps and continue the family legacy of Kramer and Sons Plumbing Services, Inc.

Our bathroom sink faucet was leaking badly, and because our house is old and quirky there is no shut off for the bathroom. We had to shut the water off for the whole house. The faucet was installed almost 20 years ago and is wall mounted, so it isn’t your typical faucet. We were also planning to leave for vacation three days after discovering the leak! Julio scrambled to order the part and do the repair before we left on our trip. So grateful for his excellent customer service!

Juan, Seth and the team were fantastic! Seth came out to do our estimate and gave honest feedback on pros/cons of our options for a hot water heater replacement to make sure we picked the right option and installed the tankless unit in a good spot that would ensure the longevity of the equipment. We got texts when the team was on their way and was always right on time/early. Much appreciated after having many other companies be delayed by hours. During install day the team was super courteous and worked with the county to access the main water line. Also, they were super collaborative and worked with our existing roofer for the roof vent that we needed to add.

I had an excellent experience with Kramer and Sons Plumbing Services. Washington Gas ultimately shut off my gas service after confirming there was a significant leak somewhere in my home. Needless to say, it was a very stressful situation.
The technician from Kramer and Sons was incredibly friendly, professional, and knowledgeable throughout the entire process. He took the time to thoroughly explain what he was finding, answer all of my questions, and walk me through the repair process step by step. I never felt rushed or left in the dark.
What impressed me most was how committed he was to making sure my home was safe. He carefully pressure tested the gas lines, located multiple leaks, completed the necessary repairs, and verified that the system was holding pressure before finishing the job. He went above and beyond to ensure the issue was properly resolved and gave me confidence that my home was safe again.
He also took the time to document his findings and explain the repairs in a way that was easy to understand, which I greatly appreciated.

Renee and his coworker were great. The admin staff was great. Same day service. I had them do a sump sump replacement, roto-rooting, and securing drain pipes. They worked fast and thorough. I would use them again. FYI There is a $59 fee to show up and 3% charge for credit card use vs a check. Reasonable prices.

I recently had Rene replace the kitchen sink hose in my apartment, and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. Immediately after the hose replacement, a new leak appeared from the top of the garbage disposal—an issue we had never experienced before. When I pointed it out, the technicians initially denied there was any leak. After showing them the water dripping, they claimed it was an “old” issue coming from the disposal gasket.
This explanation didn’t make sense, as we have never had any leakage from that area. I also observed the technicians using excessive force while removing and installing the hose, which likely damaged the gasket during the process. Instead of acknowledging the possibility of causing the issue, they insisted it was pre‑existing.
Now we are left with a leak that did not exist before their work, and a temporary bowl under the disposal to catch the dripping water.
Professionalism includes taking responsibility when something goes wrong during a repair. Unfortunately, that did not happen here.

Your plumber Rene did a great job of quickly diagnosing the main water pressure valve was bad in my home. He replaced the pressure valve, tested the pressure and flow of water, and got the house water pressure to where it's supposed to be. No more pipe knocking when flushing the toilet and running water at the same time.

I wanted to give a shout out to Seth and the other good people at Kramer and Sons Plumbing. They're the only plumbing service that gave us a fair price to begin with. After installation we ran into a problem with the new hot water heater blowing our existing fuses. Kramer and Sons never stopped working with us to solve the problem and ultimately they did solve the problem.
Thanks for everyone for a job well done. I suggest anyone give them a call first if you need plumbing work completed. They never stopped until we were 100% satisfied just like their website promises.

Juan and Dom from Kramer and Sons did a wonderful job in replacing a new water heater as the existing one leaked water at the bottom. They were very professional, arrived on time and cleaned up everything when they are done. Everything is working well since the new installation. Juan was very patient to show me how to maintain it if the water heater is not operating normally. Prior to the works, Seth communicated and responded to some questions I have quickly. He also worked with HomeServe to get the issue addressed by charging what is mandatory for the services and willingness to go through with the product warranty. With HomeServe water heater coverage, I didn’t have to pay any out of pocket so far. I called HomeServe to get Kramer and Sons out for second option after my first diagnostic cost was way beyond my budget/affordability despite having discounts from HomeServe. I am very happy with all the services from Kramer and Sons. They also replaced the previous water heater when it stopped working 6 years ago which was still under the warranty. Thank you so much to Kramer and Sons along with HomeServe teams to make the replacement services as smooth as possible!

Rene was a wonderful technician. Quick, efficient, and found the problem straight away. He and his partner also made note of a plumbing fitting issue near the water heater that had it not been caught, and the fitting failed, our basement would have flooded.

Juan was very professional and with the temperature at 17 degrees, he found the clean out under the snow and ice to snake the line. He saw water sitting inside the pipe, he snaked out to the street and pulled out some hard tape or thin rope like from the drain.

The main pressure regulator valve for my house started leaking suddenly and significantly on a weekday evening. On the advice of a local contractor I've worked with, I reached out to Kramer and Sons that evening via email (and left a phone message too) explaining the situation. Seth replied by email and with a phone call about 7:30 am the next morning. Since I had included a photo and we knew what the problem was, he was able to provide an accurate estimate. A friendly technician arrived at our house around 8 am and the valve -- which was in a somewhat tight space -- was replaced by 9 am at the estimated (and reasonable) cost. Kramer and Sons will be the plumbing company I call and recommend going forward.

Incredibly professional team, from first contact through the job's completion. Holly fielded the initial phone call immediately and effectively scheduled a convenient time. When a massive snowstorm required rescheduling, she proactively reset the appointment and confirmed the new time with me so I didn't have to stress about it. Juan and Dominique arrived early in the window, quickly assessed an effective solution to my plumbing problem, and masterfully completed the repair in short order. When they finished the site was so spotless it was like they'd never been there, leaving me with a stellar assembly that far exceeded our expectations.
